Pediatric/Children Dentistry
Children need to become accustomed to visiting the dentist regularly as fear of the dentist usually begins from a young age. Reasons children may fear the dentist are usually because of an unpleasant past experience or the parent may have an exaggerated fear of the dentist.

Dr Francis enables children to overcome their fears in a calm and pleasant manner ensuring that all patients especially children are kept comfortable and relaxed throughout their dental procedures.

Conscious sedation is available for children over the age of 4 years as well as for adults for surgical procedures at 25% of theatre costs.

Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening aims to restore the whiteness of your teeth to the natural enamel colour after staining has occurred due to smoking, food, drinks like coffee, tea and red wine or poor oral hygiene.

It is a very successful and easy way of eliminating most external and some internal stains from your teeth, without causing any damage.

This can be done with either an in-office procedure done by us, or by using a custom made home system.

Our in-office whitening procedure can achieve significant colour change in a matter of hours.

Family Orientated Dentistry
Family Orientated Dentistry puts family first and focuses on the entire family. Modern dentistry has been designed to be as painless as possible. As a family dentist, we ensure that any dental experience will be as pleasant as possible. When treating patients, we strive to make anyone feel at home, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and extends from the reception area into the surgery.
Cleanliness is our top priority, all dental instruments are sterilized after every patient visit and electrical equipment has sterile plastic covers to ensure no contamination.
Our Basic Dentistry services includes Mercury Free Fillings, Root Canal, Extractions, Surgical Removal and Scale and Polishing.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Safe replacement of old silver fillings with tooth coloured Composite Restorations, Porcelain Veneers or inlays.
Porcelain veneers are an excellent aesthetic option. A veneer is replacement of the enamel on the front surface of a tooth with porcelain.

This can be done to change the colour of your smile to a more desirable shade, to correct misaligned teeth or to correct a chipped tooth where a filling cannot restore the tooth.

Biolase Laser for Dentistry
New dental technology and techniques such as the BIOLASE Dental Lasers, allow patients and dentists more gentle, simplified and efficient dental care, so that you can spend a shorter, more relaxing time in the dental chair with less need for local or even general anaesthesia.

Dentists are known to be very skilled with their hands, therefore good tools and technology with the precision of BIOLASE lasers is an ideal tool for modern dentists. The job gets done quicker, neater, cleaner with advanced results.

Procedures are less traumatic to the tissue and yourself. Less down-time and numb lips are also part of the experience!

Crowns
Crowns are used where severe tooth destruction occurred either by fracture or decay, after root canal treatment or for cosmetic reasons to correct misaligned, discoloured or shortened teeth.

The procedure is completed in two visits.

First visit: the affected tooth is prepared by removing a thin layer of enamel, impressions are taken of both jaws and bite registration is performed. Colour selection is done and a temporary crown is fitted.

Second visit: the temporary crown is removed and the final crown is fitted. If both the patient and the dentist are satisfied, the crown is cemented with permanent cement.

Implants
Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth to prevent negative effects such as bone loss due to lack of stimulus provided by chewing forces. The natural tooth consists of the crown, the visible part above the gum, and the root, found below the gum.

An implant is a titanium screw that replaces the the root portion of the tooth. The dentist will place a crown on top of the screw to complete the procedure.

Dr Francis performs Bone Graft, Sinus Lift and Ridge Split procedures where necessary.

Read more about these procedure here as well as After Care Information when you had an implant done.

Bridges
Bridges are done in cases where a tooth has been lost. It is less ideal than an implant, but much better than a removal or partial denture. In simple terms, a bridge consists of teeth crowned on either side of the missing tooth, with a false tooth crown is attached to these crowns.
The advantages of this include: aesthetics, the fact that it is a fixed prosthesis, no surgery is required and requires limited time to complete.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that corrects teeth and jaws that are positioned improperly.

Crooked teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease.

It can also cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome and neck, shoulder and back pain.
